Before sixty days have passed after the registration's expiration, the producer must submit Form 1(A) for renewal.
According to BWM Rules, 2022, a producer is an organisation that creates, sells, imports, and uses reconditioned batteries in equipment under its own brand or one that is created by other suppliers or manufacturers.
The Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) theory, which holds that battery manufacturers are accountable for gathering, recycling, and refurbishing used batteries as well as employing recovered elements from waste to create new batteries, forms the foundation of BWM Rules.
EPR for Producer of Battery: The term "Extended Producer Responsibility" refers to the obligation on the part of any Producer of Batteries to handle Waste Batteries in a way that minimises their negative environmental impacts in order to safeguard human health and the environment from any potential hazards posed by the substances contained in Waste Batteries.
Registration of Refurbishers and Recyclers: All refurbishers and recyclers must register with the State Pollution Control Board on the centralised portal to receive a one-time registration.
The quantity of used batteries collected or received from various producers or entities, the quantity of refurbished and recycled batteries, and the quantity of hazardous and/or other waste generated after refurbishment and disposal must all be included in the recyclers' quarterly returns on Form 4.
Government Guideline for Battery Waste Management 2022
APPLICABILITY:
All parties, including the Producer, Dealer, and Consumer, who are involved in the collection, separation, transportation, refurbishing, and recycling of any form of used battery are subject to these regulations. The regulations apply to all battery types, including portable, automobile, industrial, and electric vehicle batteries.
Batteries used in items protecting vital security interests, such as weapons, ammunition, war supplies, and items made particularly for the military, as well as those destined for launch into space, are exempt from these regulations.
APPLICATION PROCESS FOR REGISTRATION OF BWM TO CPCB
Since the CPCB's online central portal is still being developed, registration requests are only presently being accepted offline. The steps for the Producer or Manufacturer to submit an application to the CPCB in offline mode are mentioned below:
Documentation: Documentation is the first step towards BWM Registration. Before replicating the project on behalf of the Producer for registration in accordance with CPCB guidelines, Aleph Team first gathers and prepares all necessary data and paperwork.

Registration may be renewed for an additional six months after the web portal is functioning. While this is happening, the application costs will be delayed and collected when a candidate registers via a single online site.
